Liz Magor: The Mouth and Other storage Facilities

This catalogue was published in conjunction with the exhibition Liz Magor: The Mouth and Other Storage Facilities held at the Henry Art Gallery.

Sculptor Liz Magor explores the relationship between the real and the simulated through her work. This exhibition of recent works consists of cast sculptures, which appear to be made from various sorts of trash. Food trays, candy, discarded clothing and other objects are piled up in the works with small animals placed throughout. The animals lie still, speaking to an alternate form of waste. The series evokes the consumption in two senses—nature and culture.

Published on the occasion of Magor’s first solo exhibition in the United States this publication includes essays by exhibition curators Sara Krajewski and Bill Jeffries.
