ArtVenture: Mirror Reflections with Corinne Manning

How is art like a mirror? What kind of mirror do you want art to be? Together, we’ll explore new ways of seeing yourself, your community, and your words by experimenting with reflective and transparent surfaces, stencils, paints, and found text. Inspired by Carrie Yamaoka’s recto/verso exhibition, we’ll let mirror reflections stir our imaginations, making up new words, colors, shapes, and even images of ourselves and each other!

Corinne Manning is a writer and literary organizer. Their story collection, We Had No Rules, is forthcoming from Arsenal Pulp Press (Spring 2020). Additional stories and essays have appeared in Bomb, The Brooklyn Rail, Literary Hub, Volume 1 Brooklyn, Drunken Boat, and other publications. Manning has received fellowships from The MacDowell Colony (2015, 2017), 4Culture, Artist Trust, Jack Straw Media Gallery, The Banff Centre, Mineral School, and The Hub City Writer’s Project. Once upon a time Corinne founded The James Franco Review, a project that sought to address implicit bias in the publishing industry.
