Deep Listening: Masaru Higasa

Deep Listening invites a meditative practice through an immersion in sound. In this series, you will be invited to explore your sense of hearing, with sound guiding your path into an contemplative experience. This Deep Listening series will take place in the James Turrell Skyspace Light Reign and will respond to the unique acoustic properties of the space.

The series is organized by Melanie Foust and invited guests. Foust is a yoga teacher and performing artist based in Seattle, WA. A classically trained dancer, Foust holds in degrees in interdisciplinary visual art and dance from the University of Washington.

This third session of the Deep Listening series will be led by the multi-instrumentalist Masaru Higasa. Masaru (Mas) has a grounded, focused Presence that is clearly reflected in his music. As a multi-instrumentalist and producer his Presence shines through on guitar, hang drum, native american flute and soundscapes. He is the creative force behind the music and movement projects, Yaima, Aja and Utooto.
