Unpacking Form and Function: Clothing and Textiles

Thu, Jul 22, Noon (PDT)

Join Associate Curator of Collections Dr. Ann Poulson and a host of experts as we take a close look at some fine examples of the design and decorative arts in the Henry’s permanent collection. Each week an expert will present works of their choice from the collection, examining them from their unique perspective. A question and answer session and casual discussion, in which everyone is invited to participate, will follow each presentation.

SPEAKER: DR. SUSAN GAYLARD

Susan Gaylard is an Associate Professor of Italian Studies and adjunct faculty in Art History at the University of Washington, Seattle. She studied at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa before completing her PhD at the University of California at Berkeley. Her work has been supported by fellowships in the US and Europe. Her teaching and research focus on the intersection of literature with material culture, from medieval tales to contemporary fashion.
